Introduction to Research in Computer Science
CS 501 is a 1-credit seminar that is taken twice by almost all students (Plan B RI students are required to take it only once, and MCS students are not required to take it at all).
It introduces students to research topics in Computer Science in general and ongoing research topics in the department in particular. It also imparts some basic research skills. It also enables students to align their interests and identify a faculty mentor who will serve as their project/thesis/dissertation advisor.
