Project

In this course, you will have the freedom to dive into a vulnerability management topic that aligns with your interests and goals. The objective is to conduct a deep-dive analysis, develop a practical solution, or critically evaluate an existing system. This project is a chance for you to become well-versed in a specific area and contribute to the broader conversation around vulnerability management.

Specific project ideas will be discussed in class, but example project focus areas include (but are not limited to):

  • Comparing vulnerability assessment systems/tools to discover unique insights provided by each and investigate their consistency.
  • Creating an automated vulnerability analysis tooling prototype to provide new insights or to increase scalability of promising, but currently manual, solutions.
  • Evaluating vulnerability analysis tooling effectiveness to determine if the system achieves its stated goals.
  • Tackling current problems in the industry, such as the lack of guidance on vulnerability chaining remediation or limited tools for vulnerability chain discovery.
