As a member of the instructional team, you are held to a high standard of professional conduct. This course is designed to help you understand and embody these professional expectations.

Academic Integrity: UTAs will be trained on the proper procedure for identifying and escalating suspected cases of academic integrity violations.

Professionalism: All UTAs are expected to demonstrate professionalism by adhering to university policies, including FERPA and Title IX, and by maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with students.

Mentorship: Peer mentorship is a cornerstone of our community. Level 1 and Level 2 UTAs will create a “mentorship compact” to establish clear communication plans and goals at the start of the semester.

Confidentiality: UTAs must understand what constitutes an “education record” under FERPA and follow best practices to protect the privacy of all student data.

Mandatory Reporting: All UTAs must understand their role as a mandatory reporter under Title IX and be prepared to follow the correct procedure for reporting.
