Our course uses a combination of ongoing practice, milestone projects, and in-class activities to help you develop your teaching skills. Your growth will be assessed through continuous feedback and the artifacts you create.
Assignments & Projects
- Teaching Portfolio: Throughout the semester, you will build a digital portfolio to document your growth as an educator. This portfolio will include artifacts like your personal teaching philosophy statement, sample student feedback, and rubrics you help design. Milestones are set for weeks 4, 8, and 12.
- Self-Reflection Journals: You will write brief weekly reflections to connect the training concepts with your hands-on teaching experiences.
- Competency Demonstrations: You will perform practical skills assessments, such as explaining a common Python misconception or delivering a short lab introduction.
Labs & Discussions
This course is built on active participation in our weekly training sessions. These are not lectures, but interactive workshops where you will engage in:
Micro-teaching practice to hone your presentation and explanation skills.
Peer observation and feedback sessions.
Scenario-based discussions on professionalism and classroom management.
Analyses of case studies on topics like inclusive teaching and academic integrity.
Role-playing exercises to practice facilitation and handling difficult conversations.
